The Age of Music.

These days, music seems to be making a turn for the worse. With "artists" like Lady Gaga, and the young female vocals of Justin Bieber. Music on the radio is most definitely offending to real musicians. I work at a local grocery store which is constantly replaying shitty Katy Perry and Kesha tracks which would turn one unsound in the mind. (crazy) I've heard Pitbull's "give me everything" track at least a hundred times on the radio and at work and feel as if the radio stations overplay these songs so much that even if the song is half decent, the fact that it is overplayed makes you want to turn it off. Yet somehow songs like that have 178 million hits and counting on youtube but that's beyond me. People need to learn that there are bands out there with actual talent and are more deserving to be heard. Bands like Fleet Foxes, Iron and Wine, Modest Mouse, The Unicorns, Youth lagoon, and Cage the Elephants, just to name a few. If you haven't noticed, i'm a large fan of indie rock (independent rock) and alternative. These bands actually have riveting song writing skills and moving beats. And if you haven't heard any songs from any of these bands i'd highly suggest doing so. Also old bands coming back and creating new albums like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Blink 182, both recently came out with new albums that I can't stop playing. I do know that there are radio stations out there that play rock and whatnot, but what i'm saying is that people need to realize that rap and hip/hop are not the only types of music. Don't get me wrong, i'm all for hearing a good new rap song because i'm open to hearing new music, not enough people aren't open to hearing different music and that saddens me. Kanye West and Jay-Z are fine rappers, but when people on twitter and facebook start comparing them to God, and saying they are gods, then that "grinds my gears" sorry for the cliché. Anyways enough about my ranting, the sole purpose of this article was to inform the general readers that there are alternatives in music and to give it a try. If you are interested, here are a few bands that are worth the listen : Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, Bibio, Bon Iver, Butch Walker and The Black Widows, Caribou, Gang Gang Dance, Grizzly Bear, Justice, Lykke Li, Mumford and Sons, Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal, Panda Bear, Real Estate, Rich Aucoin, Spoon, St. Vincent, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Woods. Also the bands mentioned within the article. Thanks for reading.

we only part to meet again
